lucid dreamingLucid dreaming is perhaps one of the psychic abilities that almost all of us practice at some point in our life. If you have ever had a dream that really brought you joy and pleasure, you have already performed lucid dreaming to some degree.

Lucid dreaming is a state of dreaming where you have the realization that you are dreaming, but you still have a complete control over the dream. The dream may not unfold in the way that that dreamer wants, but the events in such dreams are very close to the dreamer. This is one of the psychic abilities that can help and guide you. There are a lot of psychological as well as outside factors that can influence your dreams. A lot of times, your dreams are just a reflection of whatever is going on in your subconscious mind. Lucid dreaming, on the other hand, can often be a reflection of things to come. Lucid dreaming can be acquired with great control and discipline. When you are in the dream, you may feel that it is really happening. Lucid dreamers are able to de-stress through their dreams. They are also able to make connections with spirits and guides through their dreams.

Once you have practiced the art of lucid dreaming, it may become your second nature. In time, you will not have to exert any special efforts to have a lucid dream state. The dreams often interconnect with any other dreams you may have had. For most people, real life experiences trigger off these dreams.

Your Psychic Abilities and Lucid Dreaming

Believe it or not, lucid dreaming is a kind of psychic ability. Most of these dreams occur when you are in light sleep – just before waking up. Some people have these dreams only during the night, while others have them during the day time as well. However, scientific studies have shown that almost all of these dreams occur during the REM cycle.

Since lucid dreaming is a state of dreams where you can control most of what goes through your head while dreaming, it requires you to unlock some degree of psychic abilities. Those who are spiritually inclined, or remain in a positive state of mind, usually find it easier to summon their psychic powers and psychic abilities and practice lucid dreaming.

Steps towards Lucid Dreaming

Lucid dreaming almost always occurs with regular practice. There are certain steps to achieve lucid dreaming. The first step is dream recall. You should ideally have an ability to recall your dreams. If you are one of those who cannot remember their dreams, you may have some difficulty practicing lucid dreaming. The second step is reality testing. Make a sign or a code which lets you know whether you are dreaming or awake. This is extremely important because lucid dreams are very vivid and you may often not be able to tell the dream state apart from reality. The next step is dreamsigns. You may have to study your dreams and find logical connections between the, to be able to find specific dreamsigns.

The final step is napping. You can dream only when you are asleep, so try and take a peaceful nap a few hours after waking up.

I remember once having a lucid dream, where I could parachute down from the sky, which I have always wanted to do. I frequently lucid dream, becuase I know I’m dreaming, but most times it’s like I don’t have a choice, like the dream is controling me to do things. Would that still be lucid dreaming them?

I’m not sure if its too late to reply to this, however, I figure I’ll give it a shot. Recently I encountered someone whom I had never met, yet was in an odd sort of way, forced to meet. Following the meeting and a series of conversations, I began having lucid dreams. (Again) I have indeed had them in the past. I had three consecutive dreams, where I was involved in  conversations with the him. The 3rd dream, I am seeing this person ( I know the eyes) yet with slightly altered facial features- there was a constant “voice” literally telling me to look to the right, the entire time with every glance, I am seeing the eyes. The lasting experience, was direct eye contact, a force pulling me to maintain. When I woke up, I expected to see him standing in my livingroom. (Where I had fallen alseep) The next day, everything between the two of us changed. I believe this may have been one of those “Linked dreams.” Opinions please?

I should also mention I had seen him in the previous two. The previous two, we sat close together and the 3rd he was slightly further away, approximately 6 feet.

This occurs almost every day for me… but then ten minutes after standing up I can’t recall most of the details of the dream (but then I usually have weird times during the day of deja vu). Sometimes, though, I can recall the dreams for a long time… but those are usually weird in general. For example, one dream that I still remember was one where I was going through my normal routine, but everything was out of order. Some things and people were on the ceiling! Oh well…
It occurs more than once on Saturdays when I’m lazy and I don’t want to wake up and end up half-sleeping. I guess I’m a psychic then, haha.
